Music Makes Me Smile – 2011 Favs So Far.
There have been a lot of good tunes coming out this year, it’s hard to keep up with everything getting released. Below is list of some of the tunes I’ve been into so far, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of 2011 has to offer. These are in no particular order!
• Headspin by HavocNdeeD featuring the vocals of Skaught Parry
Heavy, melodic and moody – just the way I like my tunes. I’m a big fan of vocals in electronic music, and not everyone can do it well, but I think Skaught and HavocNdeeD pulled this off with ease.
• Sexy Shapes by iONik
Glitched and skewed with some dope melodies and a solid vibe. Been diggin’ this one for a good minute and can’t wait to hear more for this producer.
• Cymbol Rush by Raoul Sinier
This one came out late January this year, and it’s a beautiful track. Excellent vocals, moody instrumentals and a pleasant listen.
• Minotaur (Stephan Jacobs Remix) by Kraddy
Bangin’! I loved the original tune by Kraddy, and this remix from Stephan Jacobs does it justice. I’ve been rocking to this one almost non-stop.
• Stacking by NastyNasty
Lasers tear through the beats on this low slung number by NastyNasty – Definitely the jam to have in your ride when cruising the strip.
• In Passing by Semiomime
Experimental, lush and dark – my kind of music. You may be more familiar with the name DJ Hidden, as Semiomime is his experimental music project. The detail in this tune is superb, and definitely deserves to be on my list of favorites for the year so far.
• Universal Symphony (Pixelord Remix) by Manni Dee
Manni Dee had a new release out recently on Vermin Street, which you can find by sifting through the blog, but this remix by Pixelord stood out as one of my favorite tunes. This guy has a great way of blending in 8bit sounds and chunky beats – definitely pick up this entire release.

Music Violations?

I recently found this post off the Chromekids blog this morning and had to pass on the news myself.
Another blow to the music community has taken shape in the form of the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act). Recently Google has been shutting down long standing music blogs for violation of this “law”. Blogs that have been around for years with huge archives of music, simply gone – wiped clean with not even a warning to the users.

Adam John – Wallow In Change – Out Now!

Out now Theoretic Records, my latest release “Wallow In Change”.
This new dubstep release features some dark, grimey and glitched out beats for the dubstep masses. Change is a bit of a roller with some morphing, neuro influenced basslines that are wrapped up nicely with my typical eerie and atmospheric sound. Wallow tends to float around on the IDM range, but still retains that dancefloor vibe with a nasty bassline keeping things intact. Glitch drums and atmospheres with a side of funk thrown in to keep it all interesting.

Fragile – Bizarro World EP – Shift Recordings (Oct. 26, 2009)

Fragile’s “Bizarro World EP” (a follow-up to his single “Unabomber” on SHIFT003 -12″) is a powerful collection of deep and dark dance floor destroyers. Teaming up with Chi on “To the Top” (a rap-infused roller that busts into into full-time drums and wicked percussion) to kick it off in true roughneck fashion. Track 2, “Bizarro World” starts off like a demented carnival on Mars and then just gets weird. A bubbling bassline, eerie Sci-fi samples and intense drum work show off his signature style of raver grenades.
“Dr. Manhattan” intro creeps from sad and solemn to downright scary until it erupts into a ripping bassline that absolutely destroys every time. Definitely a smasher of a tune! Track 4, “This is Spacerock”, (with its undeniably catchy, reverbed vocal melody and mellow intro bass) drops into a devastating bassline that is probably considered felony assault in some areas. Shift is not responsible for any beheadings of any dancefloors as a result of dropping this tune.
Finishing it off proper on track 5 (another collaboration with Chi), “Mammon” is a rising roller with a growling, stabbing bass and haunting vocal samples to bring the EP to a nice smoldering close the only way they know how in Texas… BIG!
