Mischief & Mayhem

An old friend of mine from “back-in-the-day” just released a new album, free to download, but donations always appreciated. I’ve been jamming out to it at work today, and I’m lovin’ it. Glitching, dynamic, aggressive, fun, and just plain dope. If you like IDM, glitch, and experimental music, then this album is for you. If you like good music, then this album is for you. If you like to have FUN, then this album is for you.

IamTrip – As It Was EP

While digging through emails to see what I may have missed, I cam across this one from Filip Forsström, otherwise known as “IamTrip“. His release, As It Was, is a solid emotional piece of work. Delicate melodies, creative percussion edits and a gentle flow throughout all the songs. For anyone into glitch, idm and dubstep, I recommend you give this one a download – you owe it to yourself.
He also sent over a promo vid, which you can see below. The video work was done by http://theworkofcastor.com.
I’m in love with this 4 track release, and I can’t wait to hear more of what this guy produces in the future.
Theoretic Presents: De Novo Creation

Set to release on June 20th, Theoretic is proud to present De Novo Creation!
Full release will be available at:
Digital-Tunes.net | Addictech.com | JunoDownload.com
De Novo Creation EP is the debut self-titled release from Theoretic Records’ newest artist. Hailing from Bloomington, Indiana, De Novo Creation produces an organic blend of psychedelic dubstep, trip hop and experimental electronica.
With skittish beats under dreamlike top-end explorations, De Novo Creation’s music stretches easily between genres, hooking the listener into sharing the same tall view of the sonic universe. Each of the two tracks feels like an expedition and is designed with a storyteller’s finesse from start to finish.
1. Shaved Lace – With an expansive warehouse vibe the intro track “Shaved Lace” begins forcefully with an atmosphere of drum and bass. Syncopated snare work and futuristic tones churn together, building tension as the shimmering synths halo outward. Soon a chunky beat takes over, injecting an organic warmth to the track as it evolves into a gentle ending.
2. Stray – Heftier and full of strange sounds squeezed from the brain of a space-traveling robot, “Stray” is slower and more pensive, with an emotional thread that pushes its way in through the sure-footed frequencies. Leaning towards trip hop and using off-kiltered beats to keep things interesting, the track becomes insistently more energetic before finally echoing away.
As a big ‘THANK YOU’ to all of our supporters, we are giving away a free remix of Stray by TooMuchPorn! Grab the download below!
Raoul Sinier – The Melting Man EP (Tigerbeat6)
Wow. The new release from Tigerbeat6 is simply….great. Raoul Sinier puts together a moody and throughtful EP with 4 solid tracks. Not your typical dancefloor chum tunes here, just straight up moving, delightful and exciting music. Tigerbeat6 has always been a favorite label of mine for nearly a decade, and as always, i’m impressed with their latest offerings to the music community – its releases like this that renew my faith in the artistic community in the electronic scene. Raoul Sinier’s, The Melting Man EP, is a breath of fresh air for my ears.
Raoul Sinier has previous released music on Ad Noiseam, Planet-Mu, Coredump, Sublight, and Teams, with past collaborators including Venetian Snares, µ-Ziq, Hecq, and Vast Aire. “The Melting Man” marks his Tigerbeat6 debut. Rumor has it that the Tigerbeaters slept with the lights on and a Joker-gas grin for a week after receiving the masters.
This release is currently available, as of May 23, so be sure to pick it up – you won’t be disappointed. Check the previews below!

Thriftworks – ZenZero LP [Street Ritual]

Hitting the airwaves on March 28th comes Thriftworks new LP, ZenZero, brought to you by the crew over at Street Ritual. This releases features an assortment of future flavored hip-hop grooves wrapped up with glitchy edits and 8bit swirls.
In the words of Street Ritual themselves:
“If you enjoy artists such as Freddy Todd, Slugabed, Shigeto, Dabrye, Hudson Mohawke, edIT, Mono/Poly… you might be interested in a brand new artist by the name of Thriftworks. Hailing from the Bay Area by way of Pennsylvania, his sound is a refreshing breath of air in a smoggy and overpolluted bass music landscape. Blending hints of jazz and soul with innovative sampling and resynthesis, Thriftworks walks the line between slap-happy loose and ultra-tight, crisply snapping and deeply grinding. With an undercurrent of that “Bay Area sound”, the tides of Thriftworks’ sounds still rise to the challenge of creating a coherent yet perfectly scattered landscape. Symphonic with a grimy edge, the ZenZero LP is a 20-track journey into an exciting new producer’s dream world.
Thriftworks aka J. Atlas has been a musician for most of his life, playing piano and guitar since his childhood and dabbling with production first in high school. Inspired by psychedelic hip hop and the LA beat scene, he arrived in California in 2008 to study audio engineering.”

Macrodot – The Stand Alone Complex
Local producer and live performer, Macrodot, just dropped a new album entitled, The Stand Alone Complex. Complex textures, tight beats, sweeping basslines and slick melodies fill out his latest endeavor. This 13 track release takes influences from breaks, dubstep, downtempo and is highly experimental. A couple tracks on this release also feature vocals from Lady Love and Miss Becca.
Arizona keeps proving itself a hotbed for talent – be sure to head over to Macrodots site and grab a copy of his new album.

1990 – Mixtape Edit Vol. 1
Self proclaimed instrumentalist beatmaker, Moses Abrego, known to most as 1990, recently released his latest EP, Mixtape Edit Vol. 1. This San Jose, California producer just moved out to the deserts of Arizona and hit me up with an email regarding the new release. Downtempo style beats with scattered bits of 8bit sounds all molded together in a lovely hip-hop flavor round out this eight track EP. After a good listen, I must say this comes in just in time for the wonderful month of love and sappiness we know as February.
Did I mention this release is free? We all know how much people love free music, and if you’re in need of a good soundtrack to cuddle up to with that lady or man in your life, this will fit the mood perfectly. Head over to 1990′s bandcamp page and grab the free download. While you’re at it, send him a message and let him know how much you dig the music. I’m looking forward to hearing more from our new friend in Arizona.
